In countries with diverse climate conditions, choosing the right battery for each region is important. In hot southern regions, batteries often experience shorter life; therefore, batteries designed specifically for hot climates are a better choice.

Why heat damages car batteries
Contrary to common belief, extreme heat can be more damaging to a car battery than cold weather. High temperatures accelerate chemical reactions inside the battery and can increase water loss from the electrolyte. As the distilled water evaporates, the electrolyte becomes more concentrated, which creates conditions for faster battery degradation. Heat can also increase corrosion in the battery grids.

Battery behavior in high temperatures
Lead-acid batteries can operate over a relatively wide temperature range, but very hot or very cold environments reduce performance. At high temperatures, battery capacity may appear to increase, but this increase is harmful because it shortens battery life. Low temperatures, on the other hand, reduce available capacity and starting performance.

Main causes of battery failure
Heat and overcharging are among the main causes of battery damage. If the charging system is not operating correctly, high temperature can lead to overcharging, water loss and faster internal corrosion. For this reason, vehicles used in hot climates need batteries designed for those conditions.

Sepahan Battery climate classification
Sepahan Battery classifies automotive batteries into two climate categories: hot-climate batteries and non-hot-climate batteries. The term “non-hot-climate” does not necessarily mean cold-climate; it simply refers to regions outside the defined hot-climate category.

Hot-climate battery availability
Sepahan Battery’s hot-climate batteries are offered in four hot provinces: Sistan and Baluchestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan and Khuzestan. They are not supplied for sale in non-hot-climate provinces.

Advantages of hot-climate batteries
These batteries help reduce distilled-water consumption, reduce grid corrosion, improve performance in high temperatures and offer better durability in hot regions. Their performance in high-temperature conditions can be up to 1.5 times better than standard batteries.

Standards and production range
Sepahan Battery designs and manufactures hot-climate batteries based on DIN and JIS standards. JIS types include B20, B24, D23, D31, D26, E41 and Truck types. DIN types include L1, L2, L3 and L5. Sepahan Battery can produce sealed and non-sealed batteries in capacities from 35 Ah to 220 Ah.

Warranty
Sepahan Battery provides replacement warranty for its products. Hot-climate batteries are available in Orbital models with 15 months of warranty and Atomic models with 12 months of warranty.

Conclusion
For vehicles used in hot regions, a regular battery may lose performance and life faster. A hot-climate battery is designed to resist heat-related damage and provide more reliable service in demanding weather conditions.

Temperature has a major effect on the performance and service life of car batteries.
